TRIBUTE TO LOTTE HASS (1928-2015)
Lotte Hass, born in Vienna on 6th November 1928, to finishing school in 1947, eager to join an expedition to the Red Sea in 1950 as assistant Hans Hass, trained in swimming and took pictures underwater around Vienna. The result of this expedition was the Red Sea Adventures in 1951, filmed and narrated by both and offered the first pictures underwater whale sharks. In 1951 at the Venice Film Festival under the title "Under the Red Sea" it was named best documentary feature. In 1950, at the end of the expedition to the Red Sea, Hans and Lotte marry in a civil ceremony by Lake Zurich.
In 1954 they made the first German film to be shot in Technicolor Under the Caribbean Sea. That same year they made their first dive adventure series of six episodes for the BBC in which crossed the Red Sea, the Caribbean and the Aegean in their three-masted schooner "the Xarifa". They also filmed in the Indian Ocean for two sets of Adventure (1959-60).
Lotte left the diving and filmmaking, when Hans went on to study human behavior in the decade of the 60. In recognition of his contribution to film underwater in his early years as pioneers takes place in the 2011 film The girl background ocean, based on his book written in 1970. In 2000, Lotte joined the Women Divers Hall of Fame. Hans Hass died in 2013.
Lotte Hass (Charlotte Hildegard Baierl), diver and filmmaker, died at age 86, the 14th January 2015.

He is a nature photographer and explorer. He has photographed everything should be shooting, war, news and even fashion, but most appeals to you, no doubt, is the nature especially underwater and hence its fame and recognition.
He has worked for National Geographic as expedition leader with leading browsers, including astronaut Buzz Aldrin. He has also co-produced documentaries with Stan Waterman and has organized photographic expeditions with National Geografhic the Red Sea, Guadalupe, Mexico, (orcas and white sharks).
His photos and articles have appeared in magazines such as Times, Life, The New York Times, National Geografhic...
So far it has been the only photographer who has survived a great white shark attack and the embrace of an anaconda. Even while shooting a polar bear, it plunged 20 meters trying to attack him. He also survived the wing-beat of a huge orca and has masterfully captured the attack of the leopard seal penguins. Moreover, he has emerged unscathed from the attacks of a swordfish.
His expeditions are called "Expeditions with large animals".
He has won numerous awards, including the prize for Best Photographer of the nature of the BBC in 2008 and 2009.

The presentation will take us from the Arctic, diving polar bears and orcas, the Okavango river in Africa diving with crocodiles and Brazil photographing Anaconda. Also we visit the Pacific in apnea with the large whales and huge white shark and swordfish to Antarctica with penguins Leopard seal hunting.

In the documentary we talk about managing the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park in the underwater part and marine natural resources. It also deals with anthropogenic impacts on the Vigo estuary and its negative consequences. In addition, a management plan for octopus, which would consist of the ban on fishing in a habitat where the species does preferentially start and maybe another, a settlement area and fattening fry on the island is proposed Cies north. These measures would be defending the action, while done with one or two habitats of interest to conservation of marine biodiversity in the Cies Islands.
